Awesome Week

Feb 17, 2014

This Saturday Angel was baptised! and it was one of the most beautiful baptismal services I had ever seen, the spirit was so strong. We were very few in attendance, but everyone that showed up was truly edified by the spirit that was present. He was absolutely glowing with righteousness. we met him a month and a half ago, and today he is a completely new person, and he knows it. Angel is so grateful for the changes and modifications he has seen in this short period of time! This Gospel does miracles! I had never seen somebody so calm yet so anxious before baptism. Once we were in the baptismal water he didn't want to leave the font, he had a grin from ear to ear and gave me the biggest hug right there in the water. Can you tell I love the guy? And his confirmation the day after was just as beautiful

Other news in the week was that we as a mission were privileged to hear from Elder Craig C. Christensen of the presidency of the Quorum of the Seventy. Packed like sardines in the Pitic chapel, 180 missionaries listened to His divinely prepared messages. He is a spiritual giant, a powerhouse speaker, and humble example of a worthy servant of Jesus Christ! His wife was also incredible and touched my heart with her talk about prayer and personal revelation. It honestly was one of the most memorable mornings of my entire mission. I was very impressed with all of the themes that were presented. Among them, powerful and meaningful prayers, patience, self confidence and desire! Before the conference we took a picture as a mission in front of the temple. Oh! and 7 other missionaries and I sang "Israel God is Calling!", my good buddy Elder Rasmussen and I sang the alto part, and we barely managed to squeak out our voices because it was so high, and so early in the morning! Another weekly miracle ;) All in all a fantastic Tuesday.

The next day we did interchanges with the assistants, Elder Ixcot from Guatemala is a hero of mine, and an Elder I have looked up to my entire mission. His positive drive made me realize how effective we can be and need to be working as a mission. The zone is in fire, but we are still working out the kinks in a few areas. Throughout my time here in Satelite we have constantly struggled to receive references from member and find new people to teach. This week my companion and I Elder Christensen set a goal to talk to everyone we saw haha I actually had alot of fun with it. Even though I started 65% of the conversations with the ol´ "dang its hot" one-liner, I enjoyed talking with and meeting new people. I love seeing their faces light up when they talk about their families. Together we sacked almost 75 names and addresses I'm always telling people I have the most beautiful family with four crazy sisters and 2 pacient parents. Im so thankful for you guys!

This Valentines Day was madly in love with misisonary work. There is no greater joy! I am happy, I can promise you that. The little bumps on the road don't slow me down, they just make me want to be even stronger and faster. I know that bigger bumps are yet to come in my life and I know this mission is preparing for my future. Daily I try to turn me weakness into strengths, my faults into victories and my wounds into wisdom. I know my Savior lives and I know that His atoning sacrifice never ceases to stop giving and healing. I know this church is true and I know that Christ expects the best from all His missionaries! I love my family so much and I hope you have an amazing week!

We are EXCELENTE!

FEB. 10TH, 2014

This week was an incredible week! I honestly I don't even know where to start! so many cool things happened. I have had a blast getting to know my new companion Elder Christensen. We are on fire, and put 7 baptismal dates this week. We had tons of lessons this week, and tried our best to be working every second of the day. my testimony of prayer has grown so much in these last weeks. I love the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 103:36 " all victory and glory is brought to pass unto you through your diligence, faithfulness, and prayers of faith". there can be such a difference as a missionary when you pray with faith, and I'm talking every part of your soul. I have felt the love of my savior these last couple days and I feel like many of my prayers have been answered. I know that the faith of one man is string enough to do any miracle and when you are put together in a studly companionship 2 men's faith brings real results. Together we were able to put together an awesome meeting for our District Leaders (3 of whom are brand new to their jobs). we are the biggest zone in the mish! but, in our meeting we spoke about this very principle. Faith! and the importance in trusting in the lord. I have a new missionary motto, that has inspired me to step up my game this week that goes: THERE ARE NO PRETEXTS OR EXCUSES, THERE IS ONLY FAITH AND HOPE. WE ARE EXCELENT.

I love testifying in lessons, it is the chance I have everyday to absolutely pour my heart out to the people I love. Even the randoms I meet on the street, I am able to express to them that the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives and brings us pure happiness. I was so blessed to feel the spirit with so many families this week. We are working well with the members in the ward, some don't really care, others are lazy BUT there are families that understand the importance of missionary work. We are all called to labor. I am so stoked to hear that Dad has gone out with the missionaries. I was asking myself this week,I wonder if the Farrows are helping out the missionaries, then BAM! Dad sends me a video of him and the Elders in cold stone haah.

We met lots of new people like I said and look forward to doing some visits this next week. cuz not all of them went to church. I want the world to be Mormon! I have no fear out here in Mexico. Even while walking out late in the sketchiest part of our area we were able to pass out some Books of Mormon to some cholos. In La Mosca this weekend the Elders Quorum president helped us throw a birthday party to my favorite Blind Brother Hermano Carreon. Im going to miss that fire ball when I leave. He has taught me lots about what it means to stay positive even on the worst days! Ill send you a pic.

I am so happy, this weekend is the baptism of my buddy Angel and tomorrow we have a special visit from Elder Craig C. Christensen from the Presidency of the 70. Pretty excited about that too. Hey, Elder Castro is training! hah I love this work and I love serving my God. I know this church is true and that Christ loves each and every one of us.

until next week, elder farrow XOXOX happy Valentines day

The Next Step!

Feb 3, 2014
This week was insane! It had to be one of my very favorites of my whole mish. It was my last week with Elder Joyner and I really enjoyed serving these 2 weeks in a trio with Elder Cruz too. We worked like crazy people and had a lot of success. We found more new people to teach and look forward to their progress soon. Today saying goodbye to Joyner was a little tough. I love that guy so much, he taught me tons, and we had so many laughs together. Today Elder Christensen came to Satelite and with be my comp for this next transfer. He was a ZL in Peñasco and in my opinion one of the best missionaries we have in the mish. So I am excited to get going to work with him :)

We took a bus from the pitic to our house, and I knew the words to 3 consecutive mariachi songs. Do you think I have lots of time here in Mexico?? haha I was a little sick this week too. Sometimes the food still gets to me. I think I ate a percheron (a huge burrito) and it fell bad with me. Our zone had 7 baptisms this weekend and at a batisimal program, everyone in attendance felt the spirit super strong. including one of our investigators Paula. Elder Joyner and I were asked to sing again too. hah

I know that among all the reasons I am here in Sonora, the greatest reason I have is to baptise! this is my calling. I only wish I could be baptising like my Book of Mormon heros, rolling in 200 souls to the baptisimal waters! This is a difficult work and we rely so much on the Lord. Knowing that it is His work and not ours, teaches us so much patience, dilligence and the importance of hope! I know now that the most important step in our lives, is the next step we are about to make. So we look forward with our faith and try our best to make it a long stride too.

Thank you for you constant love and support. I love my family so much and am so grateful for your faith and prayers. I now God lives, and has a plan for each of His children. I know that Christ needs us to work and open our mouths spreading the love we have for His Gospel. We are so blessed to be a part of this true church. I am so happy

Love,
Elder Farrow

P.S. Hey Austin! cuídate mucho porfis. te amo mi primo!

1. the trio with Angel. Now hes in a white shirt and tie! We lovee this guy :)
2. Sayin goodbye to Elder Joyner. Got to see some old buddies too!

Tengo Una Sobrina!

Jan. 27, 2014
Esta semana se me fue tan rapido hah i just got done writting president and i typed him like 4 paragraphs in spanish. I will start by giving a little of my love to my big sis for her brand new baby girl! :))) Emery is a fantastic new addition to the family and I am soooo happy to hear evrything with well, I was nervous this whole week hah I even included Brittany in our compnionship fast saturday after lunch! We should all take a moment to think that little Emery comes from the presence of our Heavenly Father, that she and that she really is a perfect, and beutiful, shining little angel :) Families are forever ;)

This week was a solid week. and I have really enjoyed being in a trio believe it or not. Elder Cruz is from Hidalgo and is a short chaparito ball of fire. We get along pretty good, and it is good to have a latino with us when we teach. I have learned alot with him in this last week. I was so blessed to have some pretty powerful spiritual experiences this week, some in my personal studies and others in lessons with investigators. In my patriarchal blessing it helps me understand the abilities I have as a missionary and as a leader, and makes me realize how much the Lord wants me to reach out to others and help them be more effective in their callings and to motivate them to be their very best. As I reach out to others, I have seen a large improvement in MY work and MY attitude.

Our golden investigator Angel is progressing like a freight train at full speed. He reads his Book of mormon at school when the professor is talking, he prays, he asks questions, he recieves answers, he wants to be a future missionary. This kids got it all, and we are super excited for him. This weekend we watched a movie with him about the life of christ and the spirit was like BOOM! we finished the lessson and said a prayer while kneeling is angels front room. Angel offered a very special heart-felt prayer I will never forget.

This week we did some splits with other missoinaries, cuz the mission is opening 9 new areas and 8 more missionaries are coming into our zone, so we had to find some new apartments to rent and what not. Perhaps it was all a little disorganized being last minute and all, but we dont complain and we succesfully found 4 new apartments for our new missionaries. Sunday we had solid church meetings, great talks, good classes and the seats were filled. yeah family, we are talking 80 people at church! (maybe that isnt alot to you in SP ward, but according to Hermosillo terms it was a ton!)

Missionary work is lots of fun. We make mistakes, we see miracles, we laugh, we cry, we shout for joy, we fall, we get back up and we are representatives of our Savior Jesus Christ! Daily I am priveleged to feel the love and power of my Savior so often. I cherish these memories and look forward to the day when I can share these experiences in more detail with my family someday soon. I love you all and am so very thankful for the love and support I receive. Please count you blessings this week, we are incredibly blessed to live in this dispensation! Never let your gaurd down and look forward with your faith!

Hasta el próximo,
Elder Farrow

All is Well!

Jan. 20, 2014

hello my good family! for some reason the weather man keeps telling us its going to be hot, so Ill probably be wearing short sleeves for the rest of the winter! who knows. All I know is that the sun is setting here in Hermosillo and I'm sweating. I have enjoyed my time with Elder Joyner and am really gonna miss the guy, hes only got 2 more weeks left, and we have decided to step up our game even more as he reaches the end.

Tuesday we had an early meal at hermana blancas house and then later went to an OXXO (a convenience store) to put on saldo, or credit to make phone calls and left the keys to our house right there on the counter! doop! we left the OXXO and didn't realize I left the keys there until the night and had to walk 45 minutes across our area to get them. it was a miracle they were there. I felt bad for wasting our time. nobody is perfect.

We found two new brothers this week. One is 23 and the other is 27. They both go to another church, but they are very open and loved talking with us. We sat there and they asked us questions for a good few minutes about how it was being a missionary and how we see the world today and how we battle it and all. It was really neat. They thought very highly of us and thought it was amazing us being young men out doing what we are doing being so far away from home. We shared with them the message of the restoration and they seemed to be impacted and interested. We left them with a copy of the Book of Mormon for them to read and they said that they would read it. we left feeling super edified, and this visit served as a confirmatino about why we are here!

We also had alot of fun teaching Angel again. He is super solid and was the only one of our investigators to make it to church this Sunday. He is progressing well to his baptismal date on Feb 15. we were really hoping things would pick up this week, but Sunday swings by and nobody shows up. We even ask members to go by their houses and pick them up for church, but they dont go :( we stay positive. We push along. there is a bug going around in Hermosillo and I think 3/4 of the ward was sick this week. We gave lots of blessings. And yes mom I'm doing alright. just a little cough i guess

This morning we got a surprise phone call from Pres, and he told us that he needed us to do a favor. there is a missionary that is finishing up the same time as elder Joyner named Elder Cruz, and President wants us to be in a trio with him until he leaves. Pres explained that Elder Cruz is a good missionary that has forgotten how to work hard, and wants us to motivate him so that he might able to go home with the mentality elder joyner have. Mas o menos, eso es lo que nos dijo. we are going to get him at the offices tonight.

All is well here. thank you for your love and support. I am excited to hear the news of my new baby niece Emery. I know everything will go so well. My testimony is doubling everyday! for this reason and so many more, I love being a missionary. I love you all! have a great week and remember the nails

We Met and Angel!

Our Elders letter was short this week.  We had a few emails back and forth working on BYU applications, etc.  He was struggling to think past the mission.  Love that boy!  I told him that the Lord and His Heavenly Father would direct his path, and that he need to worry about the future.  He had to look at his release date in his wallet....and he says it was difficult thinking about leaving.  He still has 8 months....so let the work press forward!!!!

Jan. 13, 2014

I love the mission. this week was a great week, and it flew by me fast. Tuesday night right before going to bed, we got a surprise phone call from a random number. On the phone was Marta who was a member from Guaymas, she told us she needed our help with a priesthood blessing and that it was urgent! We asked if it would be alright if we could pass by the hospital 1st thing in the morning to give the blessing and she agreed. Early wednesday morning we arrived at a hospital bed 7 to see Martas Mother Guadalupe lying almost lifeless in a coma. she had been like that for 12 days. It was super sad to see Guadalupes family around their mother, BUT we were able to give her a priesthood blessing. In the blessing I pleaded with our Father in Heaven to give Guadalupe the chance to see her family again. We left the hospital only after leaving our testimonies of the plan of salvation and the love of God to Marta and her family. there was a special spirit that stayed with us the rest of the day. That very day we got another call from Marta, and she told us that in the afternoon, while her whole family was circled around Guadalupe in her bed, that Guadalupe opened her eyes and was able to look into the eyes of her youngest daughter, then quickly fell back into her deep sleep. what a miracle! we keep on praying for this sweet family!

Later in the week we were privileged to meet Angel. A student studying here in Hermosillo from Magdalena. He accepted a baptismal date and was on the edge of his seat asking us questions about the Plan of Salvation. with so much ease we answered his questions. he was so amazed that all of his questions were answered using a church pamphlet. The work has taken its nose dives, and face plants here lately and we are trying our best to stay positive. On the bright side, we are on the brink of success with a few families we have found these last few days. please pray for our investigators.

I have to go now, but have a fantastic week! I love you all and am so grateful for your love and support! Exito y animo

Happy New Year!

Jan. 6, 2014

My Good Family,

Truth be told, this was a very slow week! New years eve, I was asleep in my bed at 10 o'clock, and New years day here in Hermosillo was one of the most motionless, and calm days of my mission! haha We tried our very best to make lots of visits but everybody was zonked out cold in their beds, either asleep or hungover. The movement quickly picked up and we were back to normal by the 2nd. My legs and feet are pretty sore right now, we walked tons this week. I had lots of success finding more people to teach, including 2 new families who I am super excited to visit again soon. In both cases, they told us they would go to church on Sunday and didn't :/ but we will keep on trying! I love fast Sundays! I am always spiritually strengthened while fasting. We kept a prayer in our hearts for our progressing investigators and especially the future families we have yet to teach. I have faith in D&C 4:4. I know that the field is white and only God knows how willing, and wanting I am to baptize!

We had a very memorable lunch visit this week. We ate with the Lopez family. He just happens to be one of the richest men in Sonora and coincidentally lives in a beautiful home on the only golf course in Hermosillo. Anyways, he is also a counselor to Mission President Hernandez. When we came to eat at 3, we were surprised to see President and his wife at Hermano Lopez house. He had invited them to eat. and had also invited a member family and a few other non members over to his house for a feast! Before eating, Elder Joyner and I shared a brief message on the plan of salvation and our eternal potential as families. The spirit was there, and we asked all in attendance if they knew of families with whom we could share a similar message. They answered positively and we were able to write down several new names of people that we will visit this week. President Hernandez even told us of a man in his home town in Uruguay that he wanted to share the gospel with! haha idk for me it was a special afternoon.

2014 will be a great year. I look forward to the growth I will have and the experiences I will tackle. One thing that I love about life, is that there is always a tomorrow. Always a future where we can get better and do what we didn't do the day before. If there is anything holding us back that impedes us from achieving success, we need to get rid of it and look to our Savior for help. This is a huge lesson I learned last year. I hope you are bouncing back to regular life again and that everybody is able to take a break and count our blessings. We have so many! Have an awesome week and I will too :) love you all
